Absalom Fox

The Foxes are Mayflower descendants: Samuel Fuller, Hannah Fuller Bonham, Hezekiah Bonham , Amariah Bonham, Christian Bonham Fox, Bonham Fox, Levi Fox, John Newton Fox
A grist mill is a building where a miller grinds gain into flour.

Absalom Fox was born about 1734 in Kingwood, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He was the son of George and Mary Fox.

When his father died in 1754, he inherited

all my rights and interest to the Saw mill and Grist mill that is to Say one half of Each with ten acres of Land the most convenient to Said mills to be in his actual possession at twenty one years of age.

He married Christian Bonham about 1758. Their children and life together are described in the section on Absalom and Christian Fox.

On November 13, 1766, he was appointed overseer of the road leading from Broad Run to Beaverdam Church.

He died about 1797 in Lone Pine, Washington County, Pennsylvania.

  • Lone Pine, Washington County, Pennsylvania was a village located on the north fork of Ten-Mile Creek. It was known as Lone Pine, Pleasant Valley, and "Pin Hook."

    Hunterdon County was originally part of Burlington County, West Jersey. It was set off from Burlington County on March 11, 1714. It included Amwell, Hopewell, and Maidenhead Townships.

    Kingwood Township is on the western border of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was founded in 1798.
